Alpaca Yoga Classes

Close your eyes.
Take a deep breath.
Open your eyes.

Now imagine that you’re in the warm sun,  the smell of fresh air surrounding you, the firmness of the ground underneath your yoga mat… the sound of alpacas munching grass nearby, and the birds chirping in the distance…

Sounds relaxing, right? You don’t have to imagine anymore!

Incorporate the calm disposition of our alpacas into your yoga routine and reconnect to nature and the outdoors.

Partnering with Kelly Dougherty of Yoga on Main in Elkin, NC , we’re excited to announce alpaca yoga here at Purple Alpaca Farms!  Classes start on April 17th, 2021.  These classes are done in tandem with our Saturday afternoon kid’s classes.   Come for the 10am tour, send your kids off at to this week’s kids activity class and then take some you time with some alpaca yoga.

Classes last approximately 1 hour and are socially distanced outdoors in our alpaca pastures.  Please bring your own mat as mats are not provided. Per state ordinances, masks are required for children and adults 5 years old and up while on our premises for events.  For comfort during yoga, masks may be removed for the class with mats at 6′ distance.

Catered by Salem Kitchen, we now offer lunches on our yoga event days. Do yoga and stay awhile — enjoy the activity yard, picnic, play corn hole and enjoy the outdoors.

Description

Why Yoga with the Alpacas?

According to the John Hopkins Medicine, yoga helps:

  • improve strength, balance, and flexibility
  • with back pain
  • reduce inflammation leading to better heart health
  • with making sleep easier.
  • increase energy and improve mood
  • manage stress
  • build community and support
  • improve self care

And this is just the benefits of yoga — not including any of the benefits of being outdoors or of being around animals.  We think combining them will only keep the benefit list growing and hope you’ll be able to join us!

Other tips for a great farm adventure:

  • Wear comfy shoes for uneven terrain and weather appropriate clothes.
  • Snacks and drinks are available at the AlpaCafe but please do not feed the animals!
  • Spend some time with the alpacas during the class but don’t be discouraged if you don’t get to pet them this time.  There’s still time! Sign up for a tour here if you want to pet, feed, and learn more: www.purplealpacafarms.com/farm-tour

Missed this one?  Don’t worry!  Yoga classes are currently offered once a month so if you missed this one, there will be more!  Want to do yoga more often?  Let us know!
